Frequently Asked Questions
What is Functional Fertility and how can it help me?
Functional Fertility believes that our fertility is an extension of our overall health. Thus by optimizing health markers on a cellular level you can improve your fertility. Functional Fertility has supported couples in overcoming unexplained infertility, secondary infertility, endometriosis, amenorrhea, miscarriage, PCOS, and other hidden root causes of sub-fertility to have success in their TTC journey.
What if I am already healthy?
“Healthy” is a very subjective term and in fact in terms of optimized fertility “healthy” behaviors such as over-exercising, eating “clean,” and knowingly or unknowingly eating too little have a negative impact on fertility. My team works with extremely “healthy” people all of the time.
Do I have to wait until I’ve been TTC for one year for this to help?
You may have heard this from your doctor but there is no need to struggle on your own for a year. A Functional Fertility program will give you the tools and guidance you need to support your TTC journey with better answers starting NOW. If you have experienced the unfortunate experience of miscarriage please begin to seek out better answers now instead of waiting to go through this two more times. Many doctors will wait until you have had three miscarriages and we believe that is unnecessary and inhumane.
Can Functional Fertility help improve sperm health?
Absolutely. All programs include information on male fertility because men and women are equal contributors in a fertility journey.
What is the difference between your programs?
The one-on-one Fully Functional program is comprehensive with all advanced fertility labs (including the DUTCH), virtual visits, and customizable protocols included and starts at $3200. The self-guided Fully Functional program is offered at a much lower price point and offers add-on services as desired. Both still include my proven Three Pillar Approach to Optimized Fertility.
All of my labs have been normal. What kind of testing do you offer?
“Normal” does not mean “optimal.” We dive deeper with the Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones from Precision Analytical as our main hormone assessment tool. This test can be shipped directly to your home for easy in-home urine collection. If enrolled in the Fully Functional one-on-program other lab testing may be made available to you (depending on where you are located) that may include stool testing, micronutrient testing, and a custom fertility blood panel.
Where are you located?
My team is entirely virtual allowing us to work with people around the globe.
Can I do this program if I have had an unsuccessful IUI or IVF?
Whether you have already gone through fertility treatments or are thinking about it, a Functional Fertility program can still benefit you.
What is the Three Pillar Approach?
The Three Pillar Approach is a step-by-step process that walks couples through simple yet effective changes in lifestyle, nutrition, and psychological health to improve fertility markers and overall outcomes. You can see more about this approach on our website.
Do I have to do all of the pillars at once?
All pillars in the Three Pillar Approach build off of each other and is why we strongly recommend them to be done together. However, our team is working to make each pillar available for purchase, allowing you to work them into your life at your own pace. Feel free to sign up for our newsletter to stay in the loop.
Why are your Fully Functional programs three months long?
It takes a minimum of three months to optimize the quality of the egg that will eventually be your baby. Need we say more?
Do you take insurance?
Unfortunately, the kind of care that a Functional Fertility program provides cannot be covered with the current insurance model in the U.S. We hope that people like you who are seeking more for their health will continue to drive change in this restrictive model in the future.
What is your success rate?
Success does not have one definition in Functional Fertility. Success can be a woman ovulating for the first time in a decade, an increase in a man’s sperm count, someone discovering an autoimmune issue that was never addressed by standard fertility care or another woman unlearning decades of fear surrounding food to realize that food is her fertility friend, not foe. Of course, we have lots of Functional Fertility babies born too! As of December of 2021 we have a 31% success rate of actual pregnancies after completion of the program.
Will I definitely get pregnant during this program?
Please see the question above for further clarification of this question. The answer is no. There is no guarantee that you will become pregnant during or after this program. There is no guarantee that from ANY fertility program or treatment of a pregnancy. However, upon completion of a Functional Fertility program you have answers to questions that weren’t even asked before… and we believe that’s powerful.
